Junior Daughters of the King
|
The Daughters of the King is an Order for women and girls in the Episcopal Church with a mission to spread Christ’s Kingdom and strengthen the spiritual life of the church. Members work toward these goals by following a Rule of Life by taking vows of daily prayer and service through which they have a special opportunity to grow in Christian faith and commitment. At St. James we are blessed to have a Senior Order for adults and a Junior Order for younger girls ranging from age 8 to 18. At the meetings, they learn about what it means to be a Junior DOK and experience the joy of belonging to a fellowship in which love of God, others, and self is the framework for their meetings, pastimes and ministry to others. The Order hopes to help each girl grow in her commitment to Jesus Christ and His church, and perhaps eventually become a Senior DOK as an adult. Along with praying daily for the needs of others, the girls do a number of service projects throughout the year. In 2008, our activities included:
These young girls are to be commended for their selfless acts of caring for the needs of others. Their hearts are big and they truly love serving those in need. Should you ever have need for this special group of girls to pray for you or someone you know, they will faithfully put your name on their list and pray for you daily.
