The Tower

Holy Journeys have been happening throughout history. People have always wanted to be close to the holy, walk in the footsteps of Saints, and to be inspired by those that came before. Our youth Pilgrimage 2008 is just around the corner. We leave June 22 and will be sent forth from the Saturday night service on June 21st. Having experienced two other pilgrimages with the youth of this parish, I know this again will be an experience of feeling the Holiness of ancient places and experiencing God in different and profound ways. This pilgrimage’s theme is “Reaching out to God”. We will be going to Rome, Italy. While there we will visit Florence, Naples, and Pompey. We will meet up with the youth group at our sister church St. James Episcopal Church in Florence, visit the Vatican, it’s galleries and the crypts, the catacombs, on and on, we will also go to St. Paul’s within the Wall’s Episcopal Church in Rome and visit their refuge center. We will spend a lot of time visiting holy places, but while in those places we also spend quiet time feeling and praying. Youth are in charge of Morning and Evening prayer for the group each day. God is the forefront of everything that we do, even the fun stuff. This is not your usual youth trip or vacation, it is formational. a.m.anda and Drew Rucker and I were on the last pilgrimage, we have seen the changes that happened in our youth that went in 2006 and we look forward to seeing how the Holy Spirit forms this group of Pilgrims.
Pilgrimage is for more than those going, it is for the entire congregation. We can’t go without your support, excitement, involvement, and prayers. Our pilgrims have worked hard, they have cleaned, mowed, clipped, painted, hauled, cooked, sold books, dinners, pancakes, and cookies, run concession stands, and their parents have worked just as hard. We still have a little ways to go and I will be sending you a letter about our needs soon.
Right now, what we really need is for you to start praying for us, individually and as a group. I a.m. looking for 11 prayer partners for our group. These 11 people would each take one youth or adult pilgrim and pray for then daily from now until our return. These people would be unknown to the pilgrims until our return when we show the pilgrimage video. We need your enthusiasm, interest, and prayers. If you are interested in being a prayer partner please let me know. You can email me at teresa@stjameswichita.org or leave me a message at the church 683-5686. I should be able to post an itinerary soon for you to see. Please join with us on our journey as we continue “Reaching out to God”.

Administrative Professionals Week
Did you know this event was originally organized in 1952 as “National Secretaries Week” by the National Secretaries Association (now known as International Association of Administrative Professionals)? In conjunction with public relations executive Harry Klemfuss and a consortium of office product manufacturers, this week is recognized as an effort to appreciate secretaries for their contributions to the office and to attract people to the occupation. In 2000, IAAP announced a name change to Administrative Professionals Week/Day to keep pace with changing job titles and the expanding duties of today's administrative workforce.
