The Tower
Dear People of St. James,
Starting on May 5th, the Hallway to the Guild Hall will be blocked off for construction of the hall floor. This construction and the plastic wall sheeting that will be erected to control the dust, means that the Lounge, Bathrooms, the Guild Hall Construction Area, the second floor offices and Deedee’s Office will not be available until May 30th.
During this time, the handicapped accessible family bathroom, the nursery bathroom and the bathroom in the Bride’s room (at the end of the Bride’s corridor) will be available for use on Sundays and during the week. The men’s and women’s bathrooms in the hallway will NOT be available. Also, the steps in the hall will not be available at any time due to OSHA and ADA regulations. Special accommodations to access the second floor will be made for the After School Program.
The work will be in two phases. In the first phase, the existing floor will be torn apart. This will cause the major part of the dust, but this first phase will be completed in one week. The second phase, which will last three weeks, will consist of the laying of new floor. The total project will last four weeks.
The Lounge will not be available until the end of the project. It is being used to store all the tables and chairs that are now in the hall.
We will be holding Refreshments after our services out on the front lawn stone porch. This will take the place of coffee hour in the Lounge. In the case of rain, we will have refreshments in the Bride’s Corridor.
Yours in Christ’s Service,
Gary Pierce, the Junior Warden

Bishop Wolfe Needs YOUR Opinion
Under the direction of Bishop Dean Wolfe, the Episcopal Diocese of Kansas is studying the possibility of a diocesan-wide fundraising effort next year. And we need to know what lots of Episcopalians in the diocese think about it.
From May 8 to 21, you can offer your thoughts through an online survey. All you need is a computer with Internet access and a willingness to read the diocese’s proposal to learn more.
Starting on May 8, visit the diocesan web site to read what plans the diocese has for the next five years and to get directions on how to take the survey.
Mark your calendars, and check the web site starting May 8. Be part of the process. Tell us what you think!
If you have any questions, please let me know. More information on this survey will be included in the May 2 edition of DioLog.
